Vintage 1977 Citizen Challenge Diver 52-0110 Serviced Original
Citizen Challenge Diver 52-0110 — February 1977
A stunning example of the iconic Citizen Challenge Diver from June 1977. First introduced in the late ‘70s, the Challenge Diver was Citizen’s answer to the legendary Seiko Turtle 6306/6309. While Seiko’s models were produced in far greater numbers, Citizen’s version was made in much smaller quantities, making these divers exceptionally hard to find today in such original condition.
Powered by the reliable Citizen Caliber 8210, a 21-jewel automatic movement beating at 21,600 bph. Though it doesn’t hack, it can be hand-wound and features a quick-set date. Renowned for its durability, this movement is known to remain stable and accurate even after years without servicing.
The watch features a bi-directional friction bezel (no clicks) with its original black aluminium insert and luminous pip at 12 o’clock. The quick-set date works perfectly, and the screw-down crown operates smoothly. Just serviced by us, it keeps excellent time. The case retains its factory-original finish, never re-polished, showing only gentle signs of age and use. The dial and hands remain in very good condition, with their original Citizen green puffy lume beautifully preserved.
Fitted with a new Uncle Seiko Tropic strap for daily wear, similar to the original Swiss made Citizen Tropic strap originally fitted to theses premium dive watches in the 1970s.
Please note: although new seals were installed during servicing, the watch has not been pressure tested and should not be considered waterproof. Examine the photos and video carefully, as they provide the clearest representation of this exceptional watch’s condition.
Owning a Vintage Watch
Mechanical watches will not keep quartz-level accuracy and do require servicing over time. Vintage pieces will also show natural wear and patina consistent with age. Please handle with care, as dropping or mishandling can damage the movement or other components.
