Vintage 1970 King Seiko Chronometer with Blue Starburst Dial

Vintage 1970 King Seiko Chronometer with Blue Starburst Dial

A$1,750.00Price

A King Seiko Chronometer from February 1970, featuring its original blue starburst dial. Blue dial Chronometer models were produced in significantly smaller numbers than their white dial counterparts and are becoming increasingly difficult to find today. Over the decades, many have suffered from dial deterioration, refinishing, or replacement, making well preserved original examples particularly desirable among collectors.

This watch is presented in excellent vintage condition and has clearly been well cared for throughout its life. The case retains strong factory lines and presents beautifully on the wrist.

Powering the watch is its original high-grade King Seiko Chronometer movement, produced during a period when Seiko was competing at the highest levels of precision watchmaking. These chronometer certified models represent some of the finest watches produced by Daini Seikosha and are known for their accuracy, reliability, and quality of construction.

The movement has just undergone a complete service and is running extremely well. All functions operate exactly as they should, making this watch suitable for regular wear or inclusion in a vintage Seiko collection.

The watch comes fitted with a vintage new old stock Seiko bracelet, a period-correct addition that complements the watch and enhances its original appearance on the wrist.

Also included is what I believe to be the original leather strap. While the strap itself is no longer suitable for use due to age, it remains complete with its original Seiko signed buckle, adding further authenticity to the watch.

Mechanically, the watch is running smoothly and keeping excellent time, with the hacking function working exactly as they should. As is typical with Vintage Hi-Beat movements, it may require a gentle twist or shake to get started after a full power depletion, after which it runs consistently and accurately.

Please review the photos carefully, as they provide a clear representation of the watch’s condition and authenticity.

A Note on Vintage Watch Ownership

Vintage mechanical watches, while robust and reliable, are not as precise as modern quartz timepieces and may require periodic servicing. Some gentle wear and natural patina should be expected with an original watch of this age. Treated with care, it will continue to be enjoyed for many years to come.

At TEMPO PRIMA, we believe vintage watches should not be worn in water, regardless of their original specifications. We do not pressure-test vintage watches and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance. To preserve the longevity and integrity of these timepieces, we strongly recommend keeping them dry and avoiding any exposure to moisture.
