Vintage 1967 International Watch Co IWC INGENIEUR Ref.666 Serviced
Produced in 1967, this IWC Ingenieur Ref. 666 is a remarkable example of one of IWC’s most iconic tool watches. Designed with the legendary Albert Pellaton’s automatic winding system and anti-magnetic protection, the 666 series perfectly embodied the Ingenieur philosophy: precision, durability, and understated elegance.
This example features its original dial, showing honest patina that reflects its age and adds unique character. The dial layout remains clean and balanced, with sharp printing and intact markers and hands.
The stainless steel case is well preserved, retaining strong lines and proportions that highlight the Ingenieur’s timeless design. Even more desirable, this piece is fitted with its full-length Gay Frères bracelet, a highly collectible and original pairing that enhances both its value and wearability.
Mechanically, the watch has been serviced and is running reliably, powered by IWC’s in-house caliber 8531 with Pellaton winding, delivering both smooth operation and technical pedigree.
Important Note on Water Resistance: At TEMPO PRIMA, we do not recommend exposing vintage watches to water, regardless of their original ratings. We do not pressure-test vintage timepieces and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance. For longevity and preservation, we advise keeping the watch completely dry.
Mechanical watches of this era do not match the precision of modern quartz movements and will require periodic servicing over time. Natural patina and minor wear are part of what makes a vintage watch unique. With proper care, IWC will continue to be a timeless and rewarding companion for years to come.
