Vintage 1966 Seiko 6217-8001 Serviced 62MAS Divers Watch All Original

AU$4,950.00Price

First introduced in 1965, the Seiko 62MAS marked Seiko’s entry into the world of professional dive watches and laid the foundation for the many iconic Seiko divers that followed. With its purposeful utilitarian design, highly legible dial, and clean case profile free of crown guards, the 62MAS captures everything we admire about early tool watches.

The example offered here was produced in April 1966 and remains in very good overall condition. The case retains its original finish with pleasingly sharp edges, showing only honest signs of age and careful use, with no evidence of abuse, heavy knocks, or tool marks.

The all original dial and hands are particularly attractive. The original luminous material has aged very well and remains in excellent condition, avoiding the black lume deterioration that many 62MAS examples have developed over the decades.

The watch has just been fully serviced and is keeping very good time, with the quick-set date functioning perfectly. During servicing the seals were replaced, however, the watch has not been pressure tested and should not currently be considered waterproof.

It is fitted with a new premium Uncle Seiko Tropic strap along with fat spring bars.

We at TEMPO PRIMA are the Australian dealer for Uncle Seiko products and carry a large range on our website. If you would prefer a different strap, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist.

Please study the photos and video carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the condition of the watch in greater detail.

A Note on Vintage Watch Ownership

Vintage mechanical watches, while robust and reliable, are not as precise as modern quartz timepieces and require periodic servicing. Some gentle wear and natural patina should be expected with an original watch of this age.

Treated with care, a vintage watch will continue to provide enjoyment for many years to come. At TEMPO PRIMA, we believe vintage watches should not be worn in water, regardless of their original specifications. We do not pressure-test vintage watches and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance. To preserve the longevity and integrity of these timepieces, we strongly recommend keeping them dry and avoiding exposure to moisture.
