Vintage 1967 Universal Geneve White Shadow Micro-Rotor Serviced Gay Frères
This is a superb example of the Universal Genève White Shadow, an in-house design, influenced by the same mid-century modern design language Genta helped popularise during his time with Universal Genève. Dating to 1967, freshly serviced by us and presented in excellent vintage condition. The White Shadow is one of Universal Genève’s most elegant mid-century dress watches, celebrated for its ultra-slim profile and innovative micro-rotor automatic movement.
The watch is housed in a stainless steel case and fitted with its original stainless steel Gay Frères bracelet, complete with the gold Universal Genève logo tag still attached, a wonderful and increasingly rare detail for collectors. Both the case and bracelet present beautifully and retain a strong, honest vintage presence.
The dial features a clean white finish with refined baton hour indices, offering understated sophistication and excellent legibility, maintaining the balanced design for which the White Shadow is known.
At its heart is Universal Genève’s renowned micro-rotor automatic movement, a technical achievement that allowed the watch to remain exceptionally thin while still offering full automatic winding. This movement has just been professionally serviced in and is currently keeping excellent time.
