Vintage 1981 Seiko 6306-7001 with Box Serviced JDM Divers Original Watch

Vintage 1981 Seiko 6306-7001 with Box Serviced JDM Divers Original Watch

A$1,595.00Price

This is a particularly interesting example of the highly sought after Seiko 6306-7001, dating from August 1981. The 6306 was produced for a relatively short period and is considered one of Seiko’s most desirable vintage Japanese market divers, particularly because it houses the 21 jewel Calibre 6306A with hacking seconds.

The watch is a late production 6306-7001, making it an especially interesting example for collectors. The caseback serial number dates the watch to August 1981, placing it towards the end of the 6306’s production run.

The watch retains its original black dial with the characteristic applied hour markers, original hands and original lume. The lume has developed the attractive aged appearance you would expect from a watch of this period and has not been relumed or touched up.

The original bezel remains in place, with minimal signs of age and use. The case has also retained its original finish and shows the honest wear of a vintage tool watch rather than having been refinished. Fitted with its original stap in amazing condition, a new replacement is included for every day wear.

Adding considerably to the appeal of this example, it also comes with its original Seiko presentation box. Original boxes are surprisingly uncommon with vintage Seiko divers of this era, particularly given that these were originally sold as practical tool watches rather than watches that were necessarily kept with their packaging. Finding a 6306-7001 accompanied by its original box is therefore an unusual and desirable feature.

The watch has been serviced and is running well. The movement was fully disassembled, cleaned and inspected during the service, with no excessive wear observed in the components.

A Note on Vintage Watch Ownership

Vintage mechanical watches are robust and reliable, but they are not as accurate as modern quartz watches and require periodic servicing. Some signs of age and natural patina should be expected and are considered part of the character of an original vintage timepiece.

At TEMPO PRIMA, we believe original watches should be preserved rather than restored. We do not pressure-test vintage watches and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance, regardless of their original specifications. For their long-term preservation, we recommend keeping all vintage watches away from water and excessive moisture.
