Vintage 1971 Seiko 7017-6010 SpeedTimer JDM Serviced Original

Seiko’s early 1970s catalogue was filled with innovative designs, but few capture the era quite like the 7017-6010 Sports Speed-Timer. It features a flyback chronograph function, allowing the sweep seconds hand to be instantly reset and restarted without first stopping the chronograph. This clever mechanism made it ideal for timing repeated intervals quickly and efficiently.
 
Produced during a period when Seiko was redefining sports watches, the bold tonneau case, vibrant orange seconds hand and distinctive day-date display give this model unmistakable 1970s character while remaining surprisingly wearable over fifty years later.
 
This example retains its original appearance with an honest, well-preserved black dial and matching handset. The clean, minimalist layout is complemented by the striking orange accents, creating a design that feels every bit as fresh today as it did when it left the factory in April 1971. Watch also retains its original bracelet (20.5cm long).
 
This watch has just undergone a complete mechanical service in our workshop and is running beautifully, ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.

A Note on Vintage Watch Ownership
 
Vintage mechanical watches are robust and reliable, but they are not as accurate as modern quartz watches and require periodic servicing. Some signs of age and natural patina should be expected and are considered part of the character of an original vintage timepiece.

We do not pressure-test vintage watches and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance, regardless of their original specifications. For their long-term preservation, we recommend keeping all vintage watches away from water and excessive moisture.
