Vintage 1968 King Seiko 4402-8000 Serviced 35mm Hand Wound
This exceptional, freshly serviced King Seiko 4402-8000 was produced in June 1968, right in the heart of Seiko’s golden era of watchmaking. Powered by the hand wound caliber 4402, it represents one of the most beautifully finished movements ever produced by Seiko, mechanically robust, elegant in design, and still admired by collectors today.
The watch embodies Seiko’s celebrated Grammar of Design with its sharp case lines, polished surfaces, and clean, understated dial layout. The stainless steel case remains unpolished, showing only light wear while retaining its original factory edges and crisp geometry. On the back, the gold medallion and engravings remain well preserved, a testament to its careful stewardship over the decades.
The original dial is a standout feature, with a beautifully preserved surface, sharp printing, and striking applied indices.
Mechanically, the watch has just been serviced and is performing reliably. The hacking function and quick-set date work exactly as intended, and the movement is keeping excellent time.
Fitted with a new 18mm leather strap, and retaining its original King Seiko buckle, this King Seiko is ready to be worn and enjoyed.
We invite you to review the detailed photos and video provided, which best showcase the character and condition of this remarkable timepiece.
Owning a Vintage Watch
Important Note on Water Resistance: At TEMPO PRIMA, we do not recommend exposing vintage watches to water, regardless of their original ratings. We do not pressure-test vintage timepieces and therefore cannot guarantee water resistance. For longevity and preservation, we advise keeping the watch completely dry.
Mechanical watches of this era do not match the precision of modern quartz movements and will require periodic servicing over time. Natural patina and minor wear are part of what makes a vintage watch unique. With proper care, this 1968 King Seiko 4402-8000 will continue to be a timeless and rewarding companion for years to come.
