Vintage 1968 Grand Seiko 44GS 4420-9000 Serviced Original
A highly collectible early Grand Seiko 44GS, reference 4420-9000, dating to February 1968. Serviced and running extremely well.
The 44GS is one of the most historically important watches in Grand Seiko’s history. Its distinctive sharply faceted case introduced the design language that became known as Seiko’s “Grammar of Design” the foundation of the Grand Seiko aesthetic that continues today.
This example features the classic silver sunburst dial with applied faceted hour markers, sharp dauphine hands and the early Daini Seikosha logo beneath the Grand Seiko emblem. The case retains the characteristic angular geometry and polished facets of the original 44GS design, complemented by the iconic screw down case back with its original gold GS medallion.
Inside is the manual winding 27 jewel Calibre 4420B, beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour. This low-beat movement is renowned for its robustness and was the foundation of the legendary 44GS.
Fitted with a Seiko stainless-steel bracelet, this is a wonderful opportunity to own one of the defining watches in vintage Grand Seiko history.
