Vintage 1966 Seiko 6217-8001 Serviced 62MAS Rare JDM Divers Watch All Original
First introduced in 1965, the Seiko 62MAS marked the brand’s very first venture into the world of dive watches. Serving as the blueprint for decades of Seiko divers that followed, the 62MAS combined a clean, crown-guard–less case with a highly legible dial and purposeful tool-watch design, everything we love about early divers.
The example offered here was produced in February 1966 and remains in exceptional condition. It shows honest signs of age and use, but no abuse or heavy knocks. The all-original dial and hand lume are beautifully preserved. The caseback, though worn a little smoother over time, it still retains its serial number and iconic dolphin logo.
This watch has just been serviced and is running strongly, with the quick-set date functioning perfectly. The crown and caseback seals have been replaced as part of the service, though the watch has not been pressure-tested and should not be considered waterproof.
It comes fitted with a new premium Uncle Seiko Tropic strap and fat spring bars, along with its original Swiss-made Seiko Tropic strap, which remains in very nice, wearable condition (note: the keeper is missing).
